Now You See Me 2 Movie Review

Hi, my name is Dea Putri. I’m from Fortress class. Today, I want to tell you about Now You See Me 2. Now You See Me 2 is American heist thriller film directed by Jon M. Chu and written by Ed Salomon. Now You See Me released on June 6^th, 2016 in New York City and  June 10^th, 2016 in United States by Summit Entertainment. Now You See Me 2 is sequel from Now You See Me. The film has grossed over $324 million, againts a production budget only $90 million. Now You See Me 2 received 6.7/10 rating from IMDb.

Plot and Characters

The film started when The Four Horsemen, J. Daniel Atlas as Jesse Eisenberg, Merritt McKinney as Woody Harrelson, and Jack Wilder as Dave Franco are in hiding, awaiting further instructions from The Eye, the secret society of magicians they have been recruited into. Because Atlas tired for waiting a mission, he seeks out The Eye himself. His search leads him to an underground tunnel in which he hears a voice that they have a new mission and Dylan Rhodes as Mark Ruffalo will be gather them. When Dylan Rhodes is gathering with them, he invites Lula as Lizzy Caplan to The Four Horsemen to replace Henley Reeves as Isla Fisher.

            The new mission is exposing corrupt businessman Owen Case as Ben Lamb, whose new software secretly steals data on its users for Case's benefit on the launh party for the new software. When the show is begin, the show interruped by a mysterious individual. While they attempting to escape, the Horsemen are captured by mercenaries led by Merritt's vain twin brother, Chase McKinney and taken to Macau, where they are brought before Chase's employer, technology prodigy Walter Mabry as Daniel Radcliffe, Case's former business partner who faked his death after Case stole Walter's company. Walter want to them steal the chip and Atlas agress to do it so they go to Iong’s Magic Shop by Li as Jay Chou and his grandmother Bu Bu as Tsai Chin, who makes them the equipment needed to pull off the heist. When The Horsemen are stealing the chip, Dylan arrives at Macau and go Iong’s Magic Shop. Dylan asks to Li and Bu Bu about The Horsemen after that Dylan meets Atlas at market. Atlas traps by Walter and Dylan safe Atlas but Dylan gets caught by Walter. By Walter, Dylan must confront with his nightmare again, Lionel Shrike’s strongbox, but he remember his father’s said. He goes out from that and the Horsemen help him.

            The Horsemen and Dylan return to Iong’s Magic Shop to make a plan. They broadcast that they will be performing live in London at midnight on New Years' Eve and expose their activities, and as Mabry and Tressler think that they have the computer chip, they make haste to London, where the Horsemen are performing a series of tricks live on the streets. Mabry, Tressler and Chase notice a pattern in their appearances, discover that Rhodes is still alive, and locate the location of their finale, capturing the five and bringing them aboard their private plane. Mabry takes the chip card from them and Rhodes along with the other Horsemen are thrown out of the plane in flight. However, Tressler finds "The Fool" card attached underneath the label of the expensive bottle of champagne opened to celebrate his victory. Immediately thereafter, he finds the Horsemen waving from outside the plane window. After opening the door, Tressler finds that the plane has never taken off, and instead was tricked into boarding a plane on a barge in the middle of the River Thames, their criminal activities being broadcast live to the world by the Horsemen in the process. Mabry, Tressler and Chase are arrested by the FBI, and Rhodes entrusts the information they've gathered on the real criminals' activities to Austin, who allows him a head start to escape. Rhodes and the Horsemen are then taken by Li to a secret library inGreenwich observatory where they are reunited with Bradley, who reveals himself to be senior in the Eye's leadership and Lionel Shrike's partner, having masqueraded as his rival as part of their mutual act. Bradley compliments Rhodes on the magician he's become and explains that the Horsemen have completed their training. Before Bradley leaves he asks Rhodes to be his successor in the Eye. He points out a curtain and tells them to ignore whatever is behind it (as in the Wizard of Oz). Rhodes and the Horsemen find a door behind the curtain and enter a spiral staircase. The staircase is revealed to form the shape of the Society's eye symbol.

Strength and Weakness

            This movie learns us about doing good action like honest, teamwork, humble, unselfish, and don’t give our fault to other people but sometimes they used wrong methode, like thieve, manipulation, or fibbed.

Author’s Opinion

            I think the movie is interested because their action is very cool. Movie’s effect, graphic and we can learn many things from the movie like not to be selfish, have teamwork, humble, honest.

            This movie is recommended for teens upto adult, people who already know differentiate about  good things and bad things. This movie has awesome trick for some scene and they are use awesome effects.

Moral Values

            From this movie, we can learn about we have teamwork with our partner, we are not easy to believe other people, we learn not to be selfish, and don’t judge other people by their cover.
